February 10, 2023 (Chicago, IL)—Eleven titles published by Loyola Press were medal winners in the 2023 Illumination Book Awards. The annual awards recognize the best in books published with a Christian worldview.
Gold medalists in the 2023 Illumination Book Awards include:
- Cannonball Moments by Eric A. Clayton (Christian Living)
- The Freedom of Missing Out by Michael Rossmann, SJ
- Braving the Thin Places by Julianne Stanz (Spirituality)
- Pedro Arrupe: A Heart Larger than the World by Brian Grogan, SJ (Biography/Memoir, Inspiration - tie)
- Silent Night illustrated by Elena Selivanova (Holiday)
- The Merchant's Curse by Antony Barone Kolenc (Juvenile/Young Adult Fiction)
- Forgive Everyone Everything by Gregory Boyle SJ, illustrated by Fabian Debora (Keepsake/Gift/Specialty Bible)
- The Homeboy Way by Thomas Vozzo (Inspirational)
Silver medals were earned by:
- A Whole Bunch of Values by Jennifer More-Mallinos (Education)
- Praying Through Pain by Barbara Lee (Illness/Death/Dying)
A Bronze medal was awarded to:
- Seven Clues: A Catholic Treasure Hunt by Scott Hahn and Maura Roan McKeegan, illustrated by Mercè Tous (Education)
Books entered in the awards are judged on content, design, and quality. Innovation Book Awards place special emphasis on new and emerging ways to express a Christian worldview. The judging panel includes clergy, booksellers, educators, and publishing production experts.
