March 14, 2023 (Chicago, IL)—Eight books published by Loyola Press were announced winners in the 2023 Independent Press Awards. The annual awards recognize the best in books published by independent publishers. Loyola Press award winners and distinguished favorites represent a wide variety of both adult and children’s titles, in many different categories.
Winners in the 2023 Independent Press Awards include:
- Remember Us with Smiles by Gary Jansen and Grace Jansen (Gift Books - Childrens)
- Braving the Thin Places by Julianne Stanz (Spirituality)
- Pedro Arrupe by Brian Grogan, SJ (Biography - General)
- Seven Clues by Scott Hahn and Maura Roan McKeegan (Childrens - Religion Fiction)
- Forgive Everyone Everything by Gregory Boyle, SJ (Hispanic)
- Silent Night illustrated by Elena Selivanova (Holiday - Childrens)
- A Whole Bunch of Values by Jennifer Moore-Mallinos (Picture Books - All Ages)
Distinguished Favorites were:

- Cannonball Moments by Eric A. Clayton (Religion Nonfiction)
In 2023, the Independent Press Award received entries from around the world. Authors and publishers participated from countries such as Australia, Canada, Germany, India, Japan, Norway, Scotland, and South Africa, participated. Books submitted include writers based in cities from Atlanta to Los Angeles; from London to Nova Scotia; from Cape Town to Mumbai; from Albuquerque to New York City as well as others.
