June 12, 2023 (Chicago, IL)—Seven books published by Loyola Press were named winners in the 2023 Catholic Media Association (CMA) Book Awards. Two titles earned awards in two categories. The annual awards honor outstanding work in Catholic media. Loyola Press award winners represent a variety of both adult and children’s titles, in many different categories.
Winners in the 2023 CMA Book Awards are the following:
- Cannonball Moments by Eric A. Clayton (First place in Pastoral Ministry - Young & Young Adult)
- Cannonball Moments by Eric A. Clayton (Honorable Mention in Popular Presentation of the Catholic Faith)
- Praying through Pain (First place in Books about Prayer)
- Praying through Pain (Honorable mention in Grief and Bereavement)
- The Merchant’s Curse by Antony Barone Kolenc (First place in Best Books for Youth)
- Braving the Thin Places by Julianne Stanz (Second place in Healing & Self Help)
- Forgive Everyone Everything by Gregory Boyle, SJ (Second place in Inclusion in the Church)
- Seven Clues by Scott Hahn and Maura Roan McKeegan (Third place in Sacraments)
- The Homeboy Way by Thomas Vozzo (Honorable mention in Catholic Social Teaching)
Judges in the CMA Book awards are chosen based on their knowledge of the publishing industry, background knowledge of Catholicism, and knowledge of the category they judge. Judges are not members of, or employees of, CMA or a member publication.
